The project

Forge is the brainchild of Amanda Mansell, an established jeweller based in London's Hatton Garden.
Designed to be a retail space and learning hub, it offers workshops and experiences for amateurs and professionals, as well as memberships, co-working spaces and specialist equipment hire.
The project needed a strong brand and a solid digital hub to connect people, promote events and provide an online sales outlet for members.

Our approach

Having been initially asked to create a 'website and logo', it was quickly evident that this many-faceted project needed underpinning with a clear strategy and a strong visual brand, to hold everything together. The three key pillars of 'learn, make & buy' were identified, and became central to the brand development, each with its own colour set. Inspired by hallmarks, graphic forms became frames and holding shapes which were used throughout the branding.
After identifying a problem with the client’s original name for the project, it was agreed a new one was needed. ‘Forge' seemed the perfect choice for a place associated with metalworking & creation, as well as its role as a retail & workshop space for the ‘forging’ of friendships, professional relationships, and new skills.
